Vacation to Singapore, October 11-15, 2010, Day 5

This was our last day in Singapore, woke up a bit late, did our final packing, prepared everything and checked out. We left our luggage near the reservation desk and went out a while to the Buddha Tooth Relic temple while waiting for brother to come and pick us up. About 11AM, he came and brought us to have lunch at Raffles Marina private club. After that, we went directly to Changi International airport, flew back to Jakarta. Really thanks to brother who had spent his time for us even just for few hours.

Vacation to Singapore, October 11-15, 2010, Day 4

The next day, we went to Resort World Sentosa, Universal Studio Singapore. There are shuttle bus from Vivocity and HarbourFront to RWS just for $2 return. USS ticket is sold at $66 weekday and $72 weekend. The ticket is sold on site, but if you want to secure your trip there, better to buy online. With that fare, we still can get voucher $5 for meal and $5 for souvenir as some of attractions there are not fully operated yet. You can try all the attractions inside, most of those are interesting, but pay attention with the show times if you don’t want to miss it. You can get the list of show time at entrance gate. Don’t worry about drinking water here, they provide on few spots. And with the meal voucher, you can buy foods cheaper than the fare written there.

Before the gate was opened at 10AM, many visitors were queueing up in a long line. Firstly, we went to redeem our vouchers at the booth on the left side. Then we walked along Hollywood street, turned left to Madagascar area, Far Far Away area. In here, we played Enchanted Airways, a junior roller coaster and continued watching Shrek 4D. After that we watched Donkey Live show, it is an interesting show coz we can interactive lively with Donkey, the character in Shrek movie.

At Water World, we can see stunt men act just like in the movie itself, but be prepared of getting wet here because they will splash you with water. There is three zones of seating, if you don’t want to get wet, better sit in red zone. It was lunch time when the show finished, we then had lunch at Discovery Food centre in Lost World area. Wow…what a long queue inside, it took about 20 minutes for us to buy Hainanese chicken rice. After that, we played Rapids Adventure, a white water raft. I will not tell too much about the attractions in USS, just try it by yourself and feel the excitement of it. ^_^

Go to Day 3                                                                                             Go to Day 5

Vacation to Singapore, October 11-15, 2010, Day 3

On the 3rd day, we went to Singapore Science Centre, Omni Theatre and Snow City, all in the same area. In the science centre, we can play and at the same time learn everything related to the science. It is so large with many things to try. I think even a whole day isn’t enough to try all. Meanwhile the show time in Omni Theatre is every hour with 2 kind of movies. The duration of movie itself is not so long, just about 40 minutes. It has half circle big screen, that is the difference with other theatre. If you would like to go to all three places above, then it is better if you buy 3 in 1 package ticket. We watched sea rex movie, it told about sea species in the past, honestly it was quite boring for us to see the movie, hehe.

We had our lunch at McDonalds, a package of burger, fries and coke. Oh ya, the science centre itself provides free drinking water near to the toilet. We then continued to the Snow City. Be prepared to get cold here, you must wear jacket, boots, gloves. Jacket and boots are provided for free, you must not bring camera or bag inside. There is lockers to keep our belongings for $1 of rent fee. Getting inside, we could see igloo, bear statue, sliding areas and some items that I can’t remember clearly. Nothing much inside, people mostly played sliding with rubber tire available there. We were not so long staying as we were getting cold quickly.

Lunch at Day 3

From Science Centre, we went to Orchard Road, walked in and out the shopping malls that mushrooming there. No wonder people called Orchard Road as a shopping belt. We also tried uncle ice cream which cost $1 per piece. It’s delicious with many kind of flavours. We were there until dinner time, had yong tou foo as dinner at Food Republic in Wisma Atria. Then we took MRT back to hostel, before went to sleep, we still had fried kway teow at hawker centre nearby, also did not forget to buy souvenir, my brother bought a small merlion statue, while I bought few shawls.

Vacation to Singapore, October 11-15, 2010, Day 2

Woke up on 7AM in the morning, having light breakfast in hostel, we then continued our journey to several landmarks of Singapore. We took MRT, alighted at Clarke Quay station and walked along Boat Quay to Sir Raffles statue. What a nice and quiet morning where we could hear birds singing on the trees. After that, we walked towards Merlion statue by underpass. It is the opposite of Fullerton hotel. The place had been surrounded by many tourists when we arrived, made us a bit difficult to take good pictures. It has 2 merlion statues, big and small.

From there, we walked to Esplanade theatre, the building looks like durian skin, some people say it looks like fly’s eyes. Since it was still early, so the place was not crowded, restaurants hadn’t opened yet too. We took underpass walking again to Suntec City mall. We wanted to see Fountain of Wealth, luckily we also could walk around the fountain and touched the water. It is written if we walk around the fountain for 3 times, it can bring prosperity and wealth for us.

Time showed 11AM when we took a bus going to Marina Bay Sands. Many attractions that you can get in MBS such as SkyPark, shopping mall, sampan boat inside the mall, casino, hotel and many more. When we went there, it was not fully operated because some buildings were still in progress. We decided to go to SkyPark which is on the top of the building. The entrance ticket is $20 per person. Public entrance to this area is outside Hotel Tower 3 in the Porte Cochere area – off Bayfront Avenue – level 1. We then went downstairs having a stroll inside the mall, we also saw the casino from outside. Too bad that we could not go in because we were wearing sandals, meanwhile for people who would like to enter the casino must be appropriately attired.

We had roasted chicken rice and roasted pork rice at food court for $10. Finished with our lunch, we went out to board a bus towards Bugis street area. In Bugis street market, we bought a lot of snacks as gifts to our colleagues. You can find many items there with very cheap price, not only foods or snacks but also accessories, clothes, etc. There were durian seller in the market, we bought 2 boxes of durian and ate there. It was delicious, the durians come from Malaysia. Actually we still planned to go to Little India, but since we held two big plastic of snacks on our hand, we decided to go back to hostel. We took a break a while and went for bathing.

Around 6PM, we went out looking for dinner, we had roti prata, carrot cake and coconut thai at restaurant nearby which costed $8,60. From there, we went to Clarke Quay by MRT, felt the atmosphere at night. I like there, I sat on riverside and felt the air breeze while seeing persons played G-MAX reverse bungy. Then we walked along the restaurants in Clarke Quay. It is really interesting and cozy places, just too bad the food prices there are quite expensive. Felt tired of walking a whole day, we finally went back to hostel and had a good sleep.
