Phuket, March 7th

March 7th, 2011

Our first day tour, we went to Phi Phi island with express boat (big boat). Woke up early in the morning at 5 am, took bath and prepared things to be brought. We went down to have breakfast at 6.30 am. Many kinds of food and beverage that we could choose, fried rice, chicken with cashew nuts, sausage, baked potato, ham, bacon, bread, salad, fruit, corn flakes, cooked egg, tea, coffee, orange juice, milk and also brewed coffee. Breakfast time is 6.30 until 10.30 am.

Exactly on 7 am, another driver picked us up, we had join tour with a mini van. He still went to other hotels to pick up persons who had the same tour on that day. Reached Rassada Harbour about an hour later, there was tour guide who guided us based on hotel name. Not all the tourists took one day tour, half of them preferred to stay one or two nights in Phi Phi island. So, to recognize which one was one day tour, which one was not, the tour guide put the sticker on our clothes. We chose the top level of the boat to enjoy sun bathing, hehehe. Tea, coffee, snack and sea sick tablet are free.

The boat was a bit late to start the journey. During the trip, I saw so many jelly fishes in the sea. I think, it was jelly fish season that time. About 10.30 am the boat stopped at Phi Phi island to let half of tourists who wanted to stay in Phi Phi got off. Then it continued the journey for sightseeing, we saw so many beautiful sceneries surrounding like Maya bay, Viking cave, swallow bird nest, islands. Too bad, we couldn’t stop at the beach coz our boat was too big. Finished with sightseeing, the boat brought us to one spot, we then changed for another boat for snorkeling. Snorkel equipments are free, exclude fin. They gave us 1 hour to snorkel. Wow!! I could see the fishes were swimming just a few inches from my hand.

Got back on the boat, I suddenly felt so sick as the boat kept swaying, I couldn’t even go to change clothes, haiz.. I didn’t dare to make a move or else, I would vomit. I kept wearing swim suit and covering with big towel until the boat reached Phi Phi island again for having lunch. Felt a bit better after my foot stepped on the land (Ohh, thanks God). Paid 20 Baht / person for island entry fee. The tour guide directed us to Phi Phi hotel to have lunch there. We had a table based on the number that was given by tour guide when on the boat. Lunch was very delicious, it consisted of more than 5 dishes on a table and also a plate of fruits for dessert.

Not much free time there as we had to go back to the boat at 2.30 pm. I saw a money changer counter, I immediately went there to exchange half of our money with small denominations. When back to the boat, I just realized that Phi Phi island’s beach was very beautiful. It has a very clear crystal sea water, really love that. No wonder, many tourists like to go and stay there. In the boat, there was someone who offered our photograph in a frame for 100 Baht each as souvenir. It depends on you whether you want to buy it or not. At 3 pm, the boat started moving headed back to Rassada Harbour. Tired, I slept all the way back in the boat.

Almost 5 pm the boat reached harbour where many drivers have waited to send all the guests back to hotel. It was rain, but our trip on the first day hadn’t ended yet. Reached at the hotel, we immediately took a bath and ate a bit fried rice noodle that bought from local seller ( 20 Baht per pack). They use bicycle or motor bike with cart in selling their foods. Around 7 pm we waited at the lobby to be picked up for Simon Cabaret show. It is just 10 minutes of driving from hotel. Simon Cabaret is a lady boy or transvestite show where they will lip sing, dance or make humor. The show time is 7.30 pm and 9.30 pm with the duration for each is about an hour and half.

We gave our voucher to the counter to exchange with ticket and yippie!! we got the second row of seat from the stage. They prepare a bottle of mineral water as complimentary. No camera shooting or video recording allowed during the show. Time run so fast during the show, didn’t feel that it was almost an hour and half inside. It is so amazing show, I like it so much. You know, all the lady boys are as pretty as real woman or even prettier. They seem to be perfect and one thing that makes me curious until now is they can change the stage decoration or background from one to another very fast. Anyone can tell me the secret how to do that?? I would recommend Simon Cabaret to you, it’s fantastic. If have chance to Phuket next time, I will see it once again.

After the show, all the players will stand outside the exit gate and we can take photos with them. But that is not free ooh, we should give them some tips for each photo taken and for each player. It is written 40 Baht each, but I saw some tourists gave them much more. Then the driver dropped us at beach Rd as we wanted to find dinner. That night, we tried dinner at S & G Restaurant, haha we were the last customer. We ordered Tom Yum Goong, spring roll, fried mix vegetables, 3 plates of rice, a bottle of sprite and hot tea. Those dishes were enough for 3 of us. When the bill came, it was written 319 Baht, no tax at all, cheap right?

We then walked heading back to hotel, passing Bangla Rd. It is a very crowded road, during night, the road will be closed for vehicles. Many discotheques, pubs, bars open along the road, we can see sexy dancers (lady or pretty lady boy) dance on the stage or pole. They compete one to another to attract many visitors. Be careful with your belonging, I heard there are some pick pockets. Better be aware than running a bad holiday right? We went back to our room and enjoyed our good sleep, Zzzz…..
